About La Colonia de Gredos

La Colonia de Gredos farm camp offers a unique combination of farm life together with a program of Spanish courses in a supportive, sustainable environment. Located south of the Gredos mountains, our students have the opportunity to learn about Spanish culture, history and landscape in an exciting hands-on way. The complex is in rural setting that offers the students the opportunity to experience nature and the way of life in the Spanish countryside. Studying languages with us is more than just learning a language, it also means having a wonderful experience on a Spanish farm and making new friends.

Location

La Colonia de Gredos is located 5 kilometres east of Candeleda on the C-50l Madrid-Plasencia road and about an hour and a half from Madrid (turn off the motorway to Extremadura (A-5) at kilometre 148 and then north along the AV-910 Oropesa-Candeleda road). In the heart of the Spanish countryside and surrounded by "World Heritage Cities" such as Ávila, Salamanca, Caceres and Toledo; Candeleda has a privileged location and a special microclimate that gives it milder temperatures throughout the year.

Participants

Groups of younger students or groups of adult students (minimum 10 people). La Colonia de Gredos can design and provide "made-to-measure" courses and holiday packages at any time of the year. Prices obviously vary according to the nature of the services required, but we will be pleased to send you quotations for any specific course programmes you require. All our programs are competitively priced and guarantee an enjoyable learning and cultural experience!

Spanish Courses

Our intensive course consists of 20 hours tuition per week, with classes from 09.00 to 13.30, Monday to Friday, and a 30 minute break mid-morning.
The minimum age is 12 and classes have a maximum of 12 students.

We offer intensive courses at all levels, including beginners.

Activities and Excursions

We offer a wide range of activities designed to appeal to a great variety of interests and abilities, such as farm activities, horse-riding, archery, kayaking, cooking, cultural workshops, Latin and flamenco dance, hill walking, “intercambios” (exchange conversations with Spanish people), movie nights, and sports like tennis, badminton, basketball, football, volleyball, golf, etc.
Walk the unspoilt slopes of the Gredos mountains or the banks of the Tietar river, and discover the cave paintings and ancient Celtic ruins at El Raso – just some of the attractions this beautiful part of Spain has to offer. All students may participate in our well-organized program of trips and excursions. On weekends, you can participate in visits to places of cultural or historic interest like Candeleda, Madrid, Ávila, La Vera Valley, Las Cuevas del Aguila, Caceres..

Native qualified staff

We know that the key to a fun filled, exciting and successful experience for our students lies in our staff. We have formed a group with the most highly- qualified professionals from many different Spanish cities, from the director right down to the monitors and teachers. All hold college degrees in Languages and qualifications in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
